You still want to call your insurance company to make a claim, but don't wait for them to arrive before you call a professional.
There are two major phases that are involved in the cleanup and repair from water damage. The first is the demolition and drying out of the damaged area, and the second is the repairing of the damaged area, which take roughly 3-4 days and a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the severity respectively.

Black water can cause major illness. It is extremely unsanitary and is contaminated with pathogens. This mostly comes from seawater, ground water, and sewage.
Some visible signs of water damage are if the paint or wallpaper of your home starts to peel, if there is moisture in your walls or flooring, a musty odour, and if there is visible mould growing.
Repairing your home after flood damage is more complex than it seems, depending on the severity of the damage, you need to do extensive repairs to your home so a professional is required. Floods can cause large mould growth which can be very toxic.
